The Lounge Salon V.3.0
It’s a pretty surreal moment when you are sitting in your salon, with your staff and their guests, surrounded by sunshine and sweet smelling products, and Justin Trudeau’s face is playing on YouTube at the front desk. Those final words declaring….. “This is a Pandemic”……
What does that mean? Do I have to close my business? For how long? How will this effect my staff? What about our clients? So many questions, and truly, no real answers!
I pride myself on the amount of effort I have put into my Leadership Skills over the years and in that one moment, I felt like it all went out the window.
My Staff: “What do we do now?”
Me: “I don’t know”
My clients: “What do we do now?”
Me: “I Don’t know”
And then we sat…. for MONTHS!….. and if anyone know’s me, they know I DON’T sit well..
Me: (like so many of my business friends) “is my business going to get through this? Do I have to declare bankruptcy? Should I be doing Zoom Meetings with my staff? To tell them what? I don’t have any answers!” And then… new thoughts and feelings come in a very “rise from the ashes” sort of way.
Me: “what are my assets? why did I open a business in the first place? what are people going to need from me when things go “back to normal”?” Then I realized there is only the “New Normal”.
I re-evaluated everything. Our website, our appointment availability, our seating arrangements, our product loyalties. our online presence, our staff dynamics. I was in a blur.
I still have no dates to re-open, no idea of how things will turn out, but our space is re-invented, our website is more effecient, I feel grounded and reconnected to my space, friends and clients.
